Frequently Asked Questions

Your Photography Session

1)How can I be sure that you’ll take the style of photographs that I really like ?

I always hold a consultation meeting before we book the photography session.  I’ll show you the various finishes and styles that I can offer you to help you choose the look that’s right for you.  This way I’ll be prepared on the day to capture the images that you’ll really like.

2) We’ve never had family photographs taken by a professional photographer before.  How does it work ?

Your photography session is designed to be an enjoyable family experience.  It will be informal and fun.  The more relaxed everyone is, the better the final images will be.  We can hold your session in your own home, in your garden or your favourite countryside location.

3) I’m worried that the children will misbehave and you won’t be able to take photographs which we’ll like.

With younger children,  I’ll take a bit more time.   It may take a while until they get used to a stranger.   I’m happy to have a coffee and a chat and wait until they come round rather than rush in.  Usually I end up with eager assistants who will happily help me to set up the equipment or fold up a big reflector.  I always try to make it fun.  Often it’s best to just leave the photographer to guide the children.  Children often play up more with their parents than strangers so if you just keep in the background and wait the photographer usually has a knack for getting the smiles.

5) What should we wear ?

Try to wear matching or complimentary colours.   I generally advise people to avoid logos and bright patterns.  These can be distracting in the final images.

6) What if the weather is bad ?

I carry studio lighting so we always have the options of indoor photography in your home or outdoors depending on the weather.

7) How long does it take ?

A photography session normally lasts about two hours

Choosing Your Favourite Images

1) How will I view the images from the session ?

After your photography session, we’ll arrange an appointment for your viewing session.  The viewing session can be done in your own home at a time that suits you.

2) How can I be sure that the images I pick will look good on the wall ?

I can show you a projected image of your choices, scaled to the exact size.  I’ll take a photograph your living room which can then be used to show examples of finished framed portraits correctly scaled.

3) Can you just provide a few prints that I can frame myself ?

My photography offering aims to provide you  with a very high level of service delivering top quality finished art work ready to display in your home.   All your images will come fully finished and framed.

4) How much do I need to spend for a decent family portrait ?

Most people generally purchase one large framed portrait image with a couple of smaller ones as gifts.  This works out about £350 to £400.  If you want something really special I offer portraits in all sizes.  The best way to see what’s available is to call me and arrange a no commitment consultation.

5) Do you guarantee your work ?

Yes I do.  I offer a full no quibbles guarantee.  If you’re not delighted with your finished family wall portraits, I’ll give you a full refund.

Booking Your Photography Session

1) I’d like to see some of your finished work before I book.  Is that feasible ?

Here’s the good thing.  You don’t book your session until we’ve met in person first for a consultation meeting. You will  see samples of my finished portraits along with the prices.  You can then choose whether you want to proceed to your photography session.

2) Will the consultation meeting be at your studio ?

No. I will visit you at a time that suits.  I  know that many families lead very busy lives so I offer evening consultations if that suits better.

3) Do you charge a session fee ?

Yes.  £75 covers my time for your session on location plus your home viewing.  There is no fee for your consultation meeting.

When it comes to the sales viewing, it’s entirely up to you to choose if you want to buy.
