This year I’m startingoff the annual round of Wedding fairs with the Fabulous Wedding Show at the Glasgow Grosvenor. For me it’s a great chance to meet the new brides to be who are eager to see what’s on offer as they plan their wedding. Sometimes the girls bring along their fiancee but more often than not it’s a girls’ day out for the bride to be sisters mum and freinds.
If you’re visiting your first wedding fair, I’m sure that you’ll really enjoy it. Most brides to be start by booking their venue and the church. After that it’s usually the dress, the photographer, the cars then everything else. The great thing about wedding fairs is that you can see examples of almost everything you need under one roof. Remember to check out the fashion show as well. It’s almost always held in another room from the main fair. If you’re looking for even more suppliers then a great resource is The Glasgow Girls’ Wedding Guide .
Remember that most of the suppliers at the show are small businesses and can usually only cover one wedding at a time, so if you like what they have to offer, remember to ask if they’ve got your date free. Also if you can’t find what you’re looking for, just ask. For example, most Glasgow photographers know several florists, cake makers, videographers, dance bands and so on. If asked to recommend a florist my first choice would be Petals Florists in Broomhill having seen their quality and customer service first hand.
Finally, the wedding fairs are sometimes pretty busy so sometimes you don’t always get to ask all the questions you want. Remember the vendors are all keen to please so just ask for follow up meeting at a time to suit you. Like me they’ll probably be happy to visit you at home if this is easier for you.
If you decide to come along on Sunday please visit me at the Ken Reid Photography stand and say hello.
